A three hour intensive on what is a Yoga Life and how to live it!

The how to live it includes practical techniques to harmonize your body and mind to the spirit that pervades all beings. This will be followed by a vegetarian meal prepared by the Ashram.

When people hear the word Yoga, they think about all the postures and movements that are taught in Yoga studios. The truth about Yoga, however, is much broader than the physical aspect and it encompasses a whole way of life that can transform the world, one individual at a time. This Yoga Life is comprised of practing four paths that work together to acheive our Self Realization:

Raja Yoga – the Yoga of the mind. This is where we practice Hatha Yoga, which includes those postures and poses that are only a part of the process of perfecting the mind and we learn that the body is a projection of the mind.

Karma Yoga – the Yoga of service. Through the practice of selfless action, our work is is completed and we ultimately realize that the fruit of our actions is in the giving.

Bhakti Yoga – the Yoga of love and relationships. In this practice, you realize that the person in front of you is the One you love the most and that all beings are manifestations of a Supreme Consciousness.

Jnana Yoga – the Yoga of higher knowledge. This is the practice of meditation and the study of our consciousness. Living in the now, moment to moment, we ultimately experience the fullness of our being and realize that every moment is so precious.

Swami Kriyananda was ordained by Swami Brahmananda Saraswati (Ramamurti S. Mishra, M.D.), the eminent yoga master, Sanskrit scholar, healer, and author, who died in 1993.
